Nestled near the waves in St. Augustine Beach, Stir It Up began as a vibrant vision. Decades ago, Rachel Hynes recognized that local surfers lounging around Clint Richardson’s Pit Surf Shop needed fresh sustenance. What started as a small, passionate takeout window quickly grew into a beloved community staple. The cafe’s history is etched into its very structure. In 2012, second owner Rusty added the iconic coquina counter and Bob Marley porch quotes. Subsequently, Wyndham and Charles Yancey introduced custom tables painted with local fruits by artist Addie Gibson. Since taking the reins in 2016, fourth owner Cynthia Michael has elevated the space further—handcrafting new benches, hanging relaxing hammock chairs, and initiating local beach delivery. Despite its growth, Stir It Up honors its roots by keeping 99% of Rachel’s original menu intact while introducing flavorful additions like homemade gluten-free bread. From 9 am to 6 pm daily, the tight-knit team serves up legendary items like the Nutty Mother salad, heavy burritos, and cold brew coffee. Whether visitors stop by post-beach for a classic pita tosh or simply want to sway in a hammock, this sun-drenched oasis promises fresh food, kind smiles, and an unforgettable vibe. See YOU on the porch!
